Ealum Qualifies for House District 137 Post

Darrel Ealum, a long time Republican, officially qualified as candidate for Georgia House District 137. “The State Legislature showed their arrogance in creating this district,” said Ealum. “They deliberately drew the lines along diverse regions so that no region or county has a single representative. They thought most prominent Republicans were out of this district. What the State Legislature did not realize is that Darrel Ealum has businesses, homes and other economic interests in four of the five counties represented by this district. One of our family homes lies squarely inside District 137. And Darrel Ealum is angered enough by the State Legislature’s arrogance to run. They are on their way to being embarrassed for the way they redrew our district.”

“The voters in this seemingly diverse House District 137 share unifying philosophies. We are concerned about the quality of public schools and about other educational opportunities. We don’t like the increased spending mandated by the State Legislature. We want to keep diverse job opportunities in the region, and we want to attract new jobs. Our voters don’t like the arrogance that the State Legislature has shown so vividly in the redistricting and flag changing processes. Our voters know that ‘power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely’. By sending a Republican to the House to represent district 137, our voters know they are doing their part for conservative representation in Atlanta.”

“Even though District 137 appears divided between rural and urban interest, in reality, it is united by common concerns and philosophies. I am involved daily in the life of the entire district. I am proud to present myself as a candidate, as a true representative for the unity of this diverse district,” said Darrel Ealum upon qualifying for the House District 137 post.

Ealum, a retired veteran of the United States Marine Corps, is also a veteran political campaigner. During the United States Second Congressional campaign for US Congress which encompasses all of the voters in House District 137, Ealum won 63% of all the votes represented by this new House District 137. “Because of our strong friendships in our district, I have been encouraged to seek this seat, and I am willing to do so.”

Ealum and his wife, Linda, are businesspeople, owning and managing property designed for personal use by a diverse segment of the population. They have school age children. “Because of our life experiences and because of the circumstances forced upon us by the legislature’s unusual redistricting plan, we have had to make difficult family choices. We feel we have made the right choices because we understand the problems facing our voting public in District 137,” said Linda Ealum in endorsing her husband’s candidacy. “Darrel’s education, military service, and business experiences have taught him how to unify and lead. He will be the unified voice for District 137.”
