Dedicated to FamilyDarrel and Linda have been married 23 years and have four children, Lydia, Jo, Susie and James. They live in Lee County at 117 Jefferson Court, Leesburg, a home they have owned since 1988. While Darrel was an active duty Marine, he and Linda were youth directors at the base chapel. Today, they are members of Porterfield United Methodist church. Successful BusinessmanWhile serving in the Marines, Darrel and Linda began purchasing investment property. Their part-time investment became a full-time business. Today, Darrel and Linda own businesses and property in four of the five counties that make up House District 137. As the proud owners and caretakers of Radium Country Club, Darrel and Linda are dedicated to the preservation of the Radium Springs area. Service to Country and CommunityAfter graduation from Troy State University, Darrel joined the Marines and served his country as a Marine Officer. He was awarded the National Defense Medal, Navy Achievement Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal. Darrel received his Masters Degree from Pepperdine University and was an associate professor at Miami University. In 1980, he and Linda came to Albany, and Darrel immediately became involved in the community. He served as vice president of the Albany Symphony Board of Directors and on the Anchorage Board of Directors. As an active Kiwanian, Darrel served as president of the Artesian City Kiwanis Club, as the first president of the Lee County Kiwanis Club, and as lieutenant governor of Division Three of Southwest Georgia. |
